This GR8 music has somehow been ignored and relegated to a second-class status it honestly doesn’t deserve. Being the uber-fan that I am, I found it necessary to blog about this attention-worthy music. Because of my immense passion, I feel like it’s my sole responsibility to take you directly to as much of this music as I can find. I just want to share the fun with fellow music lovers, while helping the music creators.

From the time I discovered there was a world of great music seething beyond my brother’s record collection, I have spent the majority of my energy exploring music that is new to me. I grew up listening to hip-hop, electronic and jazz. By the time I was 14 I started bedroom DJing. During high school I started my perpetual mixtape quest. Eventually I amassed enough gear and dirty-used records to turn what should have been a laundry room into a home studio. Two of my songs where deemed worthy enough to be included in Fun Fun Fun Recording’s Mp3 Jackpot Winners Vol. 1 – “Meditations (by a father)” and “Sick“. It was during that exciting time that I first heard of the MP3 format. I immediately saw how artist like myself would be able to exploit the new technology as a vehicle for delivering music straight to music lovers. Subverse2ten is the latest medium that I use for discovering, filtering and distributing new music to music fans who find themselves always slightly ahead of the curve. I still hold the same enthusiasm and love of new music as I did when I was a kid. I hope you enjoy the music you find here as much as I do.

The Reality:
The Music Industry Shogun doesn’t have time to listen to all of the music in the world.
Main industry music search is hunting for talent that will produce revenue for the Shogun. This particular Shogun exists as a hand select group of people we never see. No one ever sees the Music Industry Shogun. Most of us never go looking for The MIS. But the MIS exists. We are certain of this.
My Thoughts:
There are many bands that never get discovered by the MIS. Some are seen and heard, but are not selected for MIS revenue service. Which means one thing: One Castle surrounded by thousands of wandering Ronin bands.
The Year 2010 will mark the beginning of a strange and new music renaissance. Technology combined with genuine talent will bring forth a wave that will hit like a Tsunami. The people and the artists desire this so much…that they are busy creating music right now as you read this. The MIS may not be prepared for such a huge wave of music.
My Conclusion:
Uncle Samurai 2010 is prepared to reign in this talent, one by one if need be. As each artist posts an mp3 for free download on the web, I will add those to my own network. I will have my own catalog to share with the world of music consumers. Perhaps even sending a few bands off towards the MIS…if I am granted permission to do so.

I love good music. And I hate bad music. I mean, I can’t stand it, I’m not kidding, I want to kill it. When I’m in a supermarket and they play some godawful power ballad, I give up and walk out. It’s a problem.
What is good music? And bad music? Ah, here’s the fun part. It is entirely subjective. My blog is about music that I love. It’s my opinion. I don’t pretend to have any over arching knowledge or authority. What I post here is music that makes me happy, that heals me, that is cathartic, that motivates me, that breaks my heart, and puts it back together again. I don’t write about music I don’t like. What’s the point? I’m not a critic. There’s plenty of people who are good at that, it’s not my bag.
When I play music in the Uptones, write it, practice it, record it, perform it live, I often feel transported, beyond myself, beyond doubt, beyond mortality even, absolutely present. When I learn that our music has in any way given joy and fun to others, that makes me happy in a singular way, that humbles me and gives me satisfaction I can’t adequately express. I am at heart a fan, and when I discover a great piece of music, new or not, that is new to me, I am again 6, 12, 15 years old, with the same child like glee that has overcome and fulfilled me since before I could crawl.
Music is the fountain of youth. It’s the nectar of the gods. Play me a good song, and I’m richer than kings. I’m gonna post the songs I love that I find in 2010 here, just to share that which sustains, nourishes and entertains me, through the ups and downs and lights and darks. Be well, be strong, remember the world has a better day if you do, listen to good music, and be nice the check out clerk.
